Officials caught for taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh police arrested two officials of Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) office accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 in Unnao on Saturday.

The Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh police arrested two officials of Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) office accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 in Unnao on Saturday.

The SP of Lucknow ACO,Jitendra Sonkar said Harish Kumar Tripathi of Jalaun district had contacted him alleging that accounts officer Vikram Singh and the assistant accounts officer Javed Siddiqui at the BSA office were demanding the bribe before releasing a payment of Rs 5.65 lakh due to him.

Tripathi had spent the amount on a school under a government scheme and the payment had to be released from the BSA office.

22 drowned in Jalaun

Nearly 22 people were feared drowned after a boat capsized in river Yamuna in Kutaundh area of Jalaun district on Saturday.

A police officer said the victims had come to visit a temple in Jalaun. Nearly 20 among them swam out while others got drowned.
