Days after the complainant in the nursing institute sexual harassment case disowned the video clip that was aired by a private news channel,the girl on Thursday reportedly admitted before a team of senior officers that she had conducted the sting on the institutes former PRO Ramji Bajpai.
Recording her statement for the first time before the police after the TV channel aired the clip,the girl said that she had filmed Bajpai making indecent offers to a fellow student at her home on one of the two occasions when he visited there.
Earlier,the complainant had refused to recognise the girl in the video footage and said that the clip was not hers.
But while recording her statement on Thursday,she said the girl shown in the clip studies at the institute and was also being harassed by Bajpai. The girl said she conducted the sting since no one from the institutes higher authorities paid any heed to her complaint. She also told the police that she has been receiving anonymous threat calls.
The complainant reiterated her allegations before the team that included Additional DM J P Singh,City SP (West) B P Ashok,Chief Medical Officer (Lucknow) Dr A K Shukla and Investigating Officer A P Singh. Some activists of women forum were also present on the occasion.
The girl has alleged that in September 2008,Bajpai had asked her to please the director of K K Institute of Nursing,Kamal Kant Singh,if she wanted to appear in the exams despite her poor attendance.
Apart from Bajpai and Kamal Kant,others name accused in the case include Kamal Kants father and former Vice-Chancellor of CSMMU Dr K M Singh,his brothers Dr Krishna Kant Singh and Kunwar Kant Singh.
The police had arrested Krishna Kant and Kamal Kant on Sunday evening after the girl lodged an FIR. They were,however,released on bail from the police station on medical grounds.
Kanpur (West) SP said the police teams are conducting raids at various places in Allahabad and other adjacent places to arrest Bajpai,who has been absconding. Bajpai was dismissed from the institute in July 2009.
The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court,meanwhile,dismissed a writ petition seeking quashing of the FIR and staying the arrest of Dr KM Singh and his son Dr Kunwar Kant Singh.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Abdul Mateen and V K Dixit dismissed the petition and observed that the petitioner should surrender after which their bail pleas shall be considered and disposed of expeditiously.
