Now,BJP promotes G-next

Like the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state has suffered a “son-stroke”.

If the Congress is projecting Rahul Gandhi as the country’s future, the Bharatiya Yuva Jan Morcha (BJYM) wants to project Maneka Gandhi’s son Varun Gandhi and BJP legislature party leader O P Singh’s son Anurag Singh as “the future of UP”.

While Varun is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Pilibhit,Anurag is contesting from Mirzapur.

The BYJM has started spreading the names of these “youth and future leaders” of the party though its navmatdata sammelans (new voters’ conference) it is holding across the state.

State president of the BYJM,Dayashankar Singh, said the Congress may talk a lot about its young leaders and the faces, but the fact is that almost all its young leaders are sons of prominent leaders and have got politics as a legacy. “Through our campaign,we may be supporting these two faces who also hail from political families, but we have also brought forth leaders like Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitely who were members or office bearers of BYJM,” he said.

The BJYM,he said,is extensively campaigning for Varun and Anurag as they are the youngest candidates among the 55 declared so far. “They have a strong political background and have been involved with grassroots-level work too to a certain extent.”

The young people who come for the BYJM new voters conferences often ask why the party has not given tickets to the youth. “Then we tell them about these two candidates,” he said.

“They may be debutants for this Lok Sabha election, but their strong political backgrounds make them the ideal young representatives of the party,” said Singh.

The BJYM will be organising conferences in the constituencies of Varun and Anurag. “We will also be sending around 50 lakh text messages to voters aged between 18 to 25 years and we have their complete data,” said Singh.
