Nandi attack: Reward on SP legislator increased to Rs 2.5 lakh

The state government has announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh for information on Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Mishra.

The state government has announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh for information on Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Mishra,whose name had recently emerged as one of the key conspirators in the July 12 attack on state Cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi in Allahabad.

Earlier,Allahabad Range IG Subesh Kumar Singh had announced a reward of

Rs 15,000 on Mishra’s head. The government took the decision to increase the amount on Monday,said Secretary (Home) Deepak Kumar.

Accused in different cases registered against him in Allahabad and Bhadohi,Mishra — an MLA from Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) — has been on the run for the last one year.

The police had named him in the Allahabad attack case after the alleged perpetrator behind planting the bomb — Anand Shandilya alias Rajesh Pilot — was arrested on October 5. He reportedly told the police that Mishra had hatched the conspiracy and made arrangements to carry out the attack.

So far,the Allahabad police have arrested 12 people in connection to the case. While The Indian Express senior reporter Vijay Pratap Singh and BSP worker Rakesh Malviya had died,Nandi and four others were injured in the attack.
