Nagpal meets CM,‘expresses regret’

Suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence Saturday and is learnt to have expressed regret on the incident that led to her suspension. She was accompanied by her husband Abhishek Singh,also an IAS officer. Sources said Nagpal was asked to meet the CM to avoid any adverse action.

“Her suspension might be revoked in a couple of days,” sources added.

Nagpal,who was posted as SDM in Gautam Budh Nagar,was suspended July 27 on charges of demolishing an under-construction wall of a mosque on government land in Kadalpur village.

The state government said her action brought communal discord in the area and her decision lacked farsightedness.

Opposition claimed she was suspended after she took action against illegal sand mining in the district.
