Ghaziabad: Police have given a clean chit to state minister who,along with two others,was named in the attempt to murder case of BSP leader Braham Pal. Pal was shot at his house in Morta village on May 31 earlier this year. He was rushed to hospital,where he survived. SSP Raghubir Lal said that Rajpal Tyagi,minister for rural and technical education,was not connected with the attack and the sharp shooters employed to kill Pal were allegedly engaged by another former councillor Vinod Tyagi after payment of Rs 2 lakh. Rajpal,Vinod and Manish Tyagi were the three named in the FIR. Both Vinod and Manish had been arrested yesterday and sent to jail,the SSP said,adding that the two shooters Rahul and Amit are absconding. The plot was hatched in Dasna jail by a convict identified as Bhagmal,he said. On interrogation,Bhagmal had disclosed that election rivalry was the reason behind the attack.
FIR against 81 for giving fake notes
Lucknow: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has filed an FIR against 81 persons for submitting fake Indian currency notes with face value of Rs 46,800 in the bank,police said here today.
The complaint was lodged by Assistant General Manager,RBI Lucknow,Shalini Sachan. The FIR was lodged against those who came to the bank to exchange their old and torn currency notes with new ones,they said. The RBI had earlier lodged a complaint for receiving FICN of Rs 98,900 at Gomti Nagar police station on June 30. PTI
Uttarakhand CM defends Ramdev,aide
LUCKNOW: Defending Baba Ramdev and his associate Balakrishna,who faces charges of getting a passport by submitting false documents,Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Sunday said the Centre started targeting them with the police crackdown at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. Talking to mediapersons at the inauguration of Uttarakhand Bhawan in Lucknow,Nishank said,Was the campaign by Baba Ramdev wrong? Was the protest to bring black money back wrong? Nishank said he supported Baba Ramdev because he is working for the betterment of Uttarakhand and the country. I will support anyone who works for the betterment of Uttarakhand and the nation, he said. Regarding the death of Swamy Nigamananda,Nishank said the Swamy had gone on a fast against illegal mining. The Uttarakhand government had stopped it,but the miners got a stay from the court. He also said that the mining was actually not illegal and he had already referred the matter to CBI for investigation. In his speech,the CM said he wanted to make the state a hub of Ayurveda.
