Murder alleged after engineer’s mystery death

Earlier in the day,a group of engineers refused to hand over the body of Rajendra Kumar to the police.

They staged a demonstration,alleging that their colleague had been murdered. The body was sent for the postmortem after Ferozabad SP Udai Pratap reached the spot and assured the protestors of proper investigation if postmortem confirmed that it was a case of murder.

Kumar (50) was found dead on the terrace of the building at Swami Nagar around 9 pm on Thursday,the SP said. A tenant in the same building had found the body lying on a floor mat when he went to the terrace following a power failure. He informed landlord Ahibaran Singh Yadav,who called the police,the SP said.

The SP said that he visited the spot and found there was no sign of any foul play.

Kumar stayed on the ground floor of the building for the last four years. His family stays in Aligarh.

According to the family,he had no enmity with anyone. His son Akhilesh said his brother-in-law had talked to his father yesterday morning and he had sounded all right. Also,his father was not undergoing treatment for any illness,he said.

The Executive Engineer with the tubewell division in Ferozabad,Deewan Singh,said Kumar did not attend office yesterday,nor had he taken leave.
