A minor girl was allegedly raped by a man while his friend shot a video of the incident in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Saturday. Both men have been arrested after the girl’s grandfather lodged a police complaint.
The police said the girl had gone out to relieve herself around 7 pm with her aunt when the accused forcibly took her to a desolate place and raped her. His friend shot the video on his mobile phone. They also threatened to circulate the video online if she dared to tell her family members about the incident.
“Both are residents of the same village where she was living with her aunt and grandfather. They have been arrested under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 63 (rape) and 76 (assault or use of criminal force to women to disrobe her) as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. We have also taken in our possession the mobile phone of the accused. She will be taken for a medical examination on Sunday,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Singh.
