Memorial management: No takers,LDA extends bid submission date

The Committee member-secretary and LDA Vice-Chairman,Mukesh Kumar Meshram,said: “The date has been extended and we are hopeful that some firms will respond to our offer.” Earlier,the last date for submission of bids was July 25. According to the offer,the selected firm will have to look after the management and maintenance of the memorials,sthals and parks for the next three years. They will also have to take responsibility to promote tourism in these areas.

The offers were invited for Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivasrtan Sthal,Kanshiram Smarak Sthal,Bauddha Vihar Shanti Upwan,Kanshiramji Park,Bhimrao Ambedkar Vihar,Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal and Samta Mulak Chowk. “If no firm shows any interest in this project,the state government may ask LDA and UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) to manage and maintain the respective memorial they had developed,” said a LDA official.

For instance,the Authority may be asked to look after the management and maintenance of Bhimrao Ambedkar Vihar and Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal. Similarly,the UPRNN may be given the responsibility of Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivasrtan Sthal,Kanshiram Smarak Sthal,Kanshiram Park and Bauddha Vihar Shanti Upwan.

These agencies will also have to coordinate with the district administration and the local police for maintaining the law and order situation in and around the memorials.  

“Nothing can be said in this regard till the deadline for the submission of the bids ends,” said Meshram.
