A 40-year-old man was killed during celebratory firing at a marriage ceremony in Shamshabad area near here.

Farukkhabad: A 40-year-old man was killed during celebratory firing at a marriage ceremony in Shamshabad area near here. The deceased,Rajesh,was hit by a stray bullet fired by a person identified as Sunil during the marriage function in Gharia Chilsara village Saturday night,SP Nilabh Chaudhary said. On the complaint of Rajeshs brother,an FIR has been lodged against the accused in this regard,the SP said.

Motorcycle-borne men loot at gunpoint

Gorakhpur: Three motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly robbed Rs 5 lakh at gunpoint from two persons in Bijra area of Gorakhpur. According to officials,the two persons,Sanjay and Premchand,were returning from Ghazipur after collecting money from a bank on Saturday when they were waylaid by three motorcycle-borne armed men. The men threatened the duo at gunpoint and decamped with Rs 5 lakh cash,a mobile phone and a wrist watch. The victims later lodged a complaint and police are probing into the incident,officials said.

Man held with smack worth Rs 50 lakh

Lucknow: A man was arrested on Sunday with 325 grams of smack,worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market,from Picnic Spot Road here,police said.
