She isn’t averse to being on television,but it’s just that Minissha Lamba never found any project worth considering. “Like,there was this offer to be a judge on a shaadi show and that was so unlike who or what I am,” said the petite,actress,who proudly flashes her single status,in Lucknow on Wednesday to promote UTVStar,a channel under the UTV flagship that goes on air from August 19. “But here’s a channel I would love to associate with since it is above gossip and aims at bringing the stars and their admirers closer,” said Lamba,busy with three interesting film projects—a romantic comedy Hum,Tum,Shabana,with Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor,a crime-politics thriller co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi called Zilla Ghaziabad and the Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi-starrer science fiction Joker—“in which I play a TV reporter,” she says excitedly,sharing her unfulfilled aspiration to be a journalist.

The new channel,she promises,will have more interesting stuff than speculations about stars undergoing cosmetic surgery or details of their detention at airports for undeclared assets. “Everyone gets to taste the tribulations of the system,but when a star is on the wrong side,the matter is publicised big time,” she said,with reference to her experience of being questioned by authorities over jewellery she was carrying during air travel. Citing work as the reason for being unable to check out the latest Harry Potter movie and Zindagi Milegi Naa Dobara,she said,she loved Delhi Belly. “As an actor,I have no qualms about the kind of language used in a film. You will find me mouthing profanities in Zilla Ghaziabad,where I play a don’s moll. In fact,all actors in the film speak in the local dialect.” There will be no movie shows on the channel,but stars will be brought to cities across the country to meet their fans,promised business head Nikhil Gandhi.
