Kunda murders: CBI summons Raja Bhaiyya for questioning

While Gulshan was interrogated on April 1,Hariom and Rohit were grilled the next day. Guddu Singh and his brother Rajeev were arrested by the Pratapgarh police on March 4 in the murder case of the pradhan. The CBI had taken Guddu and Rajeev on custody remand soon after they began the investigation last month. Sources said that Raja Bhaiyya will be questioned on the basis of the statements of pradhan’s brothers Phoolchand,Pawan and Sudhir who alleged that Raja Bhaiyya and his aides had helped Nanhey’s rival Kamta Pal in executing the murder. They had also alleged that Nanhey and their another brother Suresh were humiliated and tortured several times by Raja Bhaiyya’s aides in his presence at his palace since 2003. Among these aides were Akshay Pratap,Nanhey Singh,Rama Saroj,Santosh Singh,they alleged.

Nanhey and Suresh suffered because they had provided labourers to the local administration and the police for demolition of the Benti pond and a search of Raja Bhaiyya’s palace,the brothers are learnt to have said. The action was initiated following directives of the then chief minister Mayawati. Raja Bhaiyya and his father were arrested also.

The pradhan’s brothers told the agency that since Nanhey was the village head then too,he followed the instruction of the administration,but Raja Bhaiyya and his men did not like this and inflicted humiliation and torture on him.

They also alleged that Raja Bhaiyya’s aides started helping Kamta Pal,who had a dispute over a piece of land with Nanhey. Guddu had threatened Nanhey and Suresh several times to make a compromise with Pal. The brothers were taken to Raja Bhaiyya’s palace also,but the pradhan had refused to make a compromise.

Besides these allegations,Raja Bhaiyya will also be questioned about Parveen’s allegation that her husband had been killed at the behest of Raja Bhaiyya.

Meanwhile,the agency has sent a reminder to Vinod Saroj,independent MLA from Babaganj constituency of Pratapgarh,to appear for questioning. He had not appeared before the agency despite being sent a notice earlier. Saroj is an aide of Raja Bhaiyya and the latter allegedly had threatened pradhan’s brother Pawan by calling on the MLA’s mobile phone after Nanhey’s murder.
