Kanshiram Awards for CWG medal winners from UP

Uttar pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday announced that players from the state who have won medals in the Commonwealth Games will be given ‘Manyawar Sri Kanshiram ji International Sports Awards’.

Uttar pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday announced that players from the state who have won medals in the Commonwealth Games will be given ‘Manyawar Sri Kanshiram ji International Sports Awards’.

She has again congratulated all the players of Uttar Pradesh who have brought laurels to the state by winning medals in the Commonwealth Games 2010. “UP players who have won medals in the Commonwealth Games will be honoured at a function to be organised in Lucknow,” Mayawati said in a statement issued on Friday. A reward of Rs 15 lakh will be given to each player of UP who won a gold medal in an individual event. Similarly,the silver and bronze medallists of the individual events will be given Rs 10 lakh and Rs 8 lakh each,respectively. Players who won the gold medal in the team events would be getting Rs 10 lakh each while the silver and bronze medal winners of the team events will be given Rs 8 lakh and Rs 6 lakh each,respectively. The Chief Minister said that the state government was committed to provide all possible help to the players in order to give them maximum encouragement. Eleven players from UP have won medals in various sports during the Commonwealth Games. When contacted principal secretary sports (UP) Kumar Arvind Singh Dev said that “date for the distribution of these awards has not been decided yet.”
