The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh to achieve the target of 100 per cent Photo Electoral Roll (PER) and Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) in the state by end of this year.
In a letter sent to CEO of UP in this regard,ECI has observed that state was lagging behind in achieving the target of 100 per cent PER and EPIC.
In the letter,the ECI has mentioned that in UP,91.13 per cent voters have been covered in PER and 92.98 per cent voters have been issued EPIC.
Laying emphasis upon 100 per cent coverage,the ECI has directed the state CEO to prepare a schedule of activities and submit it by May 31. The ECI will monitor the implementation of the schedule fortnightly.
