Allahabad blast: State police team in MP to track moped owner
LUCKNOW: A state police team is camping in Madhya Pradeshs Jabalpur to trace the owner of the moped used in the July 12 Allahabad blast,in which two persons including The Indian Express Senior Reporter Vijay Pratap Singh were killed and minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi was injured. According to sources,someone had bought the second-hand moped in Jabalpur about one-and-a-half months ago. The moped was first sold from a Bajaj showroom in Jabalpur,four or five years ago. Then it changed hands on a few occasions, said a source.
11 held for alcohol consumption in public
Greater Noida: The police arrested 11 people from Greater Noidas Alfa commercial complex on Saturday night after they received reports of people congregating at the site to drink alcohol. Complaints suggested that these individuals were indulging in eve-teasing and causing nuisance to residents of nearby colonies. The police have also impounded one Mercedes Benz,two Honda City cars and one Wagon-R. The accused,including four businessmen,were sitting in their cars and consuming alcoholic drinks. A case has been registered against all the accused.
12 die in accident
LUCKNOW: At least 12 people were killed and 32 sustained injuries when a speeding truck rammed a tractor-trolley at Hayat Nagar area in Sambal on Saturday night. The victims were returning to Daulatpur village in the trolley. An FIR has been lodged against the truck driver. He is injured and admitted to the hospital, said Hayat Nagar Inspector Anil Mishra.

Water level rises in Ganga
GHAZIABAD: In the last 24 hours,the water level of the Ganga in Bijnore district has increased and is flowing only six inches below the danger mark. While the danger mark is set at 193.8 m from the sea level,water in the Ganga is flowing at 193.2 m at present. The level has increased due to the discharge of additional water from a barrage.

Power theft: UPPCL collects Rs 16 cr fine
LUCKNOW: In its drive against power theft across the state,the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has collected Rs 16 crore as fine,officials said on Sunday. During the drive,while 5,127 connections were checked,anomalies were found in 2,856 cases. For power theft,FIRs have been registered against 660 people, said an official.
