Cong,SP,RLD demand CBI probe in CMO murder
Alleging that senior SP leader Abhay Singh was falsely named in the murder case of a senior health official,a joint delegation of his party,Congress and RLD met Governor B L Joshi on Thursday and demanded a CBI probe into the incident. Singh was named by the police in Chief Medical Officer Vinod Arya murder case on December 12 the date of district panchayat chairman election, the delegation said. As the leader ensured victory of the SP candidate in Faizabad,the police framed him in the case. We demand a CBI probe into the entire case so that real culprits should be brought to book. Arya was murdered on October 27 in Vikas Nagar.
BJP protests against fuel hike
The state BJP has reacted strongly to the Centres decision to increase petrol prices. In an official communique,party spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said: The government had raised prices when the price of petroleum in the international market was $140 per barrel. Now,the prices are $100 per barrel,but still prices have been hiked.
HC quashes 2007 seniority list
The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court on Thursday quashed a 2007 seniority list of judicial officers in the state. The court also directed respondents to prepare a fresh seniority list,keeping in view the observations made by the Supreme Court. A Division Bench comprising Justices Devi Prasad Singh and Arun Tandon passed this order on a writ petition filed by judicial officer Prabhuji and another,challenging the seniority list. The court,while allowing the writ petition,observed that impugned seniority list has been prepared against the settled principles of law,hence,suffers from inherent weakness and substantial illegality,therefore,shall not survive.
