Prohibitory orders were clamped in Lucknow on Thursday to maintain law and order on New Year’s eve. “It has been observed the on New Year’s eve,parties are organised at various hotels,clubs and resorts. Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the city to ensure peace,” a senior district administration official said. District Magistrate Anil Kumar Sagar has asked people not to organise programmes or parties,where more than 50 people would participate,without prior permission from the administration. He has also directed that loud music will not be played after 10 pm. The orders will be in force till January 1.

2 blood banks asked to stop operations

The state Food and Drug Authority (FDA) has ordered two blood banks in Kanpur to immediately stop operation in wake of alleged irregularities found in their working. The step came after the FDA raided four blood banks in Kanpur on Wednesday. Among these,C L Memorial Blood bank in Shastri Nagar and Sai Blood Bank in Kidwai Nagar were found to have “gross irregularities leading to high chances of issue of unsafe blood”,stated a FDA press release. The FDA had issued showcause notices to the remaining two — Sneh Pathology and Blood Bank and Universal Pathology and Blood Bank — for alleged irregularities in their set up. Similarly,three blood banks each in Lucknow and Allahabad and one in Gorakhpur was raided and showcause notices served to each.

BJP cell to organise seminars in 12 cities

The BJP’s Prabuddh Prakoshth (intellectual cell) will organise a series of seminars in 12 cities across the state in February. The seminars will cover a range of issues like law and order,inflation and corruption.
