House adjourned over ‘passing of slips’ during session

The UP Legislative Council was adjourned for the day amid noisy scenes by Opposition Bahujan Samaj Party members over the entry of an attendant into the well of the House today.

The UP Legislative Council was adjourned for the day amid noisy scenes by Opposition Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) members over the entry of an attendant into the well of the House today.

BSP members alleged that the attendant had come with a ‘slip’ having some information for a minister regarding a question asked during Question Hour. The BSP members demanded that the practice of taking slips during the proceedings of the House should be stopped and ministers should come prepared with all information.

Pandemonium erupted in the House during the Question Hour when the attendant entered the well and headed towards the SP benches. Chairman Ganesh Shankar Pandey first objected over his entry and asked him to leave.

There was a heated exchange between Leader of Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Revenue minister Ambika Chaudhary over the practice of using ‘slips’ to get information during the session.
