Govt to cancel allotment of unused industrial plots

The Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department has been asked to conduct surveys of all such “unutilised industrial plots” across the state.

In a significant decision on Monday,the UP government decided to cancel all such industrial plots where the entrepreneurs concerned have failed to set up industrial units in the given time limit or failed to adhere to the land use allowed to them in the allotment.

The Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department has been asked to conduct surveys of all such “unutilised industrial plots” across the state under Industrial Development Authorities as well as Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation and issue notices to the concerned allottees.

“If the industrial unit has not been set up according to the land use allowed or the land is being used in violation of rules and regulations or the plot is lying unutilised after expiry of stipulated time duration allowed to set up an industrial unit,then the entrepreneur will be served the due notice and allotment will be cancelled,” said SP Singh,Principal Secretary,Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department.

He further said,“There are genuinely desirous investors,who are looking for investment opportunities and the aim would be to ensure that they are provided such industrial plots”

Sources in the government inform that there are also plots which have been give to some of the Central Government departments as well but industrial units have not been established on them even years after the deadlines expired.
