Bookshop buying back video games to sell new ones
Long before the proliferation of video/computer games,people would be addicted to Pacman or any of the few others. In view of the proliferation of these games now and the short attention span a game gets,no matter how sensational or popular, Landmark chain of bookstores are buying back old games from customers and letting them exchange the coupon for the latest or any other game of their choice.
Parents,who have to foot the bill,are the happiest, says Mohammad Jameel,store manager. Over a 100 customers have availed of the offer in the wake of the school holidays, he says,adding that sale of video games in Lucknow is equal in revenue and volume to the stores in any big city.
Priced at anything between Rs 399 and Rs 2,499,video games marketed by companies like Milestone or E Xpress are based on different formats. There are PC games and there are others in a PS 2,PS3,X Box format to be played on a console with a joystick Some can be played through simulation and the figure on the screen moves the racquet in sync with the movement of your hands, says Amit Dixit in charge of the games section. Interestingly,the store has even developed a gaming area where people can try their hand at the games and decide which one they would like to take home. God of War-3,Uncharted-2 and Grand Theft Auto-Among Thieves are the hottest selling games,the store confirms.
