From next March,trace Lucknow online

NEHA ATTRE LUCKNOW,JULY 12 THE Luckow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has undertaken a project to conduct GIS mapping of the city. Once the LMC is through with the process of data collection,it would be possible to locate any area in Lucknow on the Internet. You could zero in on details as minute as a tree or a manhole in an area, besides landmarks like post offices, hospitals, etc. All information, vital or trivial, related to the city will be available on the LMC website. A part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission programme, the scheme is being funded by the Central government and is scheduled to be completed by March next year. “While collecting data, initially our focus will be on data related to property tax. Once it is over,we will begin work related to utility services,” said A C Sinha,Assistant Municipal Commissioner. As part of data collection for property tax, information like the width of a road, its name, connectivity to other roads; area of a house, name of the owner and number of occupants will be mentioned. Utility services will include manholes, number of trees being planted on a particular road, number of streetlights in the city and the sewerage system. The LMC has outsourced the project to a Noida-based agency. “Our primary job is to draw the base map of the area. There are one lakh properties in the city. Once the maps are ready, any variation can easily be noticed,” said Javed Ahmed, director of the company.
