Lucknow: Jagdish Nauhwar,who was BSP candidate in the 2007 Assembly polls for Manth seat in Mathura district,joined the ruling Samajwadi Party in presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in the SP office,Lucknow on Sunday. His entry into the SP is politically significant in view of the coming by-election to Manth seat,necessitated by the resignation of RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary,who is MP from Mathura seat.
The ruling party has decided to field Sanjay Lather in the by-election.
Besides Nauhwar,BSP leader Pradeep Choudhari,general secretary of Jat Aarakshan Samiti Veerpal Singh,secretary of Yadav Mahasabha Rahul Gopal Yadav and president of private polytechnic college Omvir Singh also joined the SP.
RLD fields candidate
Chaudhary Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal has announced its candidate for the by election to the Manth seat,a party spokesman said here. Yogesh Nohawar would be the party candidate for by-election in Mathura district,RLD spokesman Anil Dubey said.
The bypoll is scheduled for June 12.
