You should say with pride that you are Congressmen and Rahul Gandhi is your leader, Tiwari told the gathering at the state Congress headquarters. Forget about the bitterness of Bihar election results,and move ahead with new energy.
Rahul Gandhis charisma worked in the Lok Sabha elections and party won 22 seats in UP far ahead of the nine it won during the previous election,he said.
Speaking on similar lines,Joshi asked Congressmen to pledge that under the leadership of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi,they will ensure the defeat of communal and corrupt forces in the state.
Sonia Gandhi has made an appeal that Congressmen raise issues of the poor at the grassroot level, she said. 2011 will be the year of struggle and we should be ready to go to jail for raising these issues.
Referring to the recent case where a senior BSP leader was named for the rape of a young girl in Banda district,she said: The government machinery has failed,but Congress will take up the issue and get justice for the girl.
