Five people booked for killing peacocks

The Forest department has lodged an FIR against five residents of Rudauli Tehsil for allegedly killing three peacocks in the reserve forest area of Faizabad district.

The Forest department has lodged an FIR against five residents of Rudauli Tehsil for allegedly killing three peacocks in the reserve forest area of Faizabad district.

Following a tip-off,officials had found carcass of three peacocks on Tuesday,said Deputy Forest Ranger Anand Shrivastava.

While four suspects managed to escape,the team succeeded in arresting one Chote Laal.

During investigation,he named the others involved in the crime as Punwasi,Suresh,Vishram and Changa.

Shrivastava said a case has been lodged against the five under the Wildife Protection Act. The peacocks were killed for their colourful feathers and meat,said an official.
