The Ghaziabad senior superintendent of police issued orders on Monday for the arrests of a traffic sub inspector,one traffic constable and three Home Guards found extorting money from heavy vehicles entering the city.
SSP Akhil Kumar said the police had received a tip-off about them extorting money from vehicles entering and plying within the city. A case has been lodged against seven people under sections for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means,punishment for dacoity and dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of dacoity. Ravinder and Vivek Kumar,both Home Guards,managed to escape arrest, Akhil Kumar said. The arrested have been identified as Traffic Sub-Inspector Anurag Tyagi,Traffic Constable Maan Singh,and Home Guards Pramod Kumar,Rohit Kumar and Ajay Kumar.
