CHIEF MINISTER Yogi Adityanath on Monday appealed to the sadhus and seers of Ayodhya to ensure the victory of “Ram bhakt” candidates of BJP in the urban local body elections, adding that if one who opened fire on “Ram bhakts” gets votes here, that would send a wrong message to the society.
Addressing a gathering of ‘prabuddhajan’ (intellectuals) including sadhus, on the premises of Maniramdas Chhavni in Ayodhya, Adityanath asked to form 60 teams of sadhus for 60 municipal wards and appealed to them to reach out every household in support of BJP candidates.

For the mayoral elections, the BJP in Ayodhya has fielded Mahant Girish Pati Tripathi, who is peethadhishwar of Vashishth Peeth in Ayodhya.

Adityanath said that when a rambhakt wins in this festival of democracy in Ayodhya, that makes a good perception about Ayodhya. “lekin jab rambhakton pa goli chalane wala vyakti yahan se kuch bhi vote pa leta hai na, bahut kharab uska sandesh jata hai,” Adityanath said. (But when a person who opened fire on rambhakts gets even a few votes here, that sends a bad message.)
Adityanath said that the current elections were for basic amenities in Ayodhya, for putting the arrangements in ashrams in order, to keep Ayodhya shining and proper management of solid waste and sewerage.
Adityanath said that over 33 lakh devotees visited Ayodhya last Ram Navami and when the construction of the Ram temple is completed in January next year, more than one crore devotees would reach Ayodhya on Ram Navami.

Adityanath said as a sevak of Ram, he sets aside maximum time for Ayodhya and closely monitors the work going on in the city but normally, it is the responsibility of local units (bodies) to look after sanitation, taxation, public transport, waste discharge and dharamshalas. Adityanath said the previous board (municipal) tried to do well but but this time, the BJP has fielded Mahant Girishpati Tripathi so that sadhus have representation and added that Tripathi would develop Ayodhya in coordination with the sadhus and seers..

Adityanath underlined that his government made Ayodhya a municipal corporation, changed name of the district and commissionerate too. This was Adityanath’s second visit to Ayodhya to campaign for BJP candidates in civic polls.
Earlier, addressing a rally in Mirzapur, Adityanath said that the BJP and its allies have got the public’s blessings and SP-BSP’ defeat was certain after the first phase of elections and hence both (SP-BSP) have distanced themselves from the campaign.

The BSP’s top leadership has stayed away from the campaign and SP president Akhilesh Yadav too has campaigned in a few constituencies only. However, Adityanath has campaigned for the BJP in all the municipal corporations and several other local bodies.
Earlier in a rally in Barabanki district, Adityanath took a dig at SP president Akhilesh Yadav for allegedly calling the civic body polls “an election for garbage collection”.

“Prior to 2017, every city had virtually turned into a garbage dump. The cities were identified by piles of garbage. You must have read the statement of the president of Samajwadi Party today. He (Akhilesh) said that he is not interested in municipal elections because it is an election for garbage collection. Its seems that collecting garbage is against his reputation,” Adityanath remarked.
Adityanath added that use of such words by a person who has previously been the Chief Minister of a state like Uttar Pradesh was an insult to the six crore people living in urban areas of the state, he added, pointing out that “this is not garbage, rather it is an election to ‘clean the garbage, filth and anarchy of SP-BSP,” Adityanath added.
As the campaign for the second phase of polling will conclude on Tuesday, the ruling-BJP intensified its campaign on Monday. While the CM addressed three public meetings today, party also gave focus on Amethi where Union Minister Smriti Irani and BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary led a road show today.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya addressed public meetings in Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Pilibhit and Bareilly.
