Engineering student commits ‘suicide’

An engineering student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Sarojini Nagar residence on Saturday afternoon.

An engineering student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Sarojini Nagar residence on Saturday afternoon.

According to police,Mukesh Singh Sengar (19),a student of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering at the Azad Institute of Aeronautics and Engineering,took the extreme step after he learnt that he had failed to clear the fourth semester examination. The result was declared on Friday evening. A suicide note has been found. “The suicide note was addressed to his family and he did not blame anyone,” said Circle Officer of Sarojini Nagar D P Shukla.

Belonging to Auraiya,Sengar was staying in Lucknow at a rented house owned by Pawan Kumar Rawat in Gauri Bazaar. He was sharing the room with his batchmates Dileep Singh and Satendra Singh.

According to police,on Saturday morning,Mukesh returned to Lucknow from his native place. “Before leaving the house,Mukesh did not tell us that his result was out and that he had failed,” said Sengar’s cousin brother Brijesh,adding,Sengar took a bus to Lucknow early morning. “It was around 6 am when Mukesh reached home. We were sleeping. Around 7.30 am we asked him if he wanted to go to the institute,but he denied,” said Sengar’s roommate Dileep,who along with Satendra went to the institute.
