Yadav said when the police were looking for clues in the victim’s locality, they spotted a torn pair of trousers near the rickshaw driver’s house. It appeared to be similar to the cloth used to gag the victim. “Following this, Kedar Nath was picked up for interrogation… The victim’s family also said the girl used to visit Kedar’s house everyday as he used to offer her chocolates and other eatables,” said Yadav.

He added that during interrogation, Nath, who is allegedly a paedophile, confessed to his crime.

“He said the girl had visited him on Wednesday evening when he was busy repairing his rickshaw outside the house. As she entered his house, Kedar Nath followed and caught hold of her. He allegedly raped her after stuffing a piece of cloth into her mouth,” the SO said.

“Following the assault, the victim died. Kedar kept the body in his house and bundled it into a gunny bag. Around 5 am on Thursday, he took the body to Chhangamal crossing and dumped it there,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Zone IG Satish Ganesh has issued directions that all rickshaw pullers staying in Lucknow have to undergo verification.
