Domestic help,aides killed BJP leader’s wife: Cops

Three more persons who helped Ravi in executing the crime included Shankar,a domestic help currently serving at Singh’s house and two others — Lallan Kamat and Jasod.

While Shankar and Lallan were arrested and Rs 2 lakh cash was recovered from Jasod’s house in the Badlapur area of Delhi,Ravi and Jasod are absconding,Kulhary said.

He also said that all the four accused belonged to Hatni village of Madhubani district in Bihar and they had hatched the robbery plan a month ago. When BJP legislator left for Lucknow,they committed the crime. Another help at Singh’s house,Ajay,who also belongs to Madhubani,was not involved in the crime. Singh’s grandson,Anuj,too was not aware of the conspiracy,the SP (City) said.

Significantly,the ADG (Law & Order),Brij Lal had ruled out the motive of robbery behind the murder on the day of crime.

Kulhary said that Shankar had facilitated the entry of Ravi and others into the house through the main gate. He had got Rewati to open the door,knocking and pretending some urgency. Later,they all overpowered the old woman and killed her.

The miscreants opened the safe in her room and collected the cash amounting to lakhs of rupees. They left an empty briefcase in the room to mislead the investigators. The two arrested men said Jasod and Ravi knew the exact amount of the booty.

According to Kulhary,Hukum Singh has confirmed about the missing cash from the safe. However,till yesterday the BJP leaders had not confirmed about it.

Singh’s wife Rewati (70) was found murdered at his Gandhi colony residence in New Mandi area of the district on Saturday. While Singh was in Lucknow when the incident took place, Rewati was back at home along with his grandson,Anuj and two servants — Shankar and Ajay.
