Actress-turned-film quiz host confesses she’s a born movie freak

An age at which kids play ‘ghar-ghar’ or with the doctor’s set, actress Divya Dutta was putting up “shows” for her friends in which she would be a silverscreen siren, asking her mother to arrange samosas and sweets for the viewers.

“I used to be Hema Malini one day and Rekha the other and would ask boys my age to play Dharmendra or Amitabh Bachchan. There would also be the film awards ceremony in which the “award goes to D I V Y A Duttaaaaa’,” reminisced the gifted as well as award winning actress,in Lucknow on Tuesday to announce her film-based quiz show ‘extraaa shots challenge’ on Sony Max that goes on air from September 18. A unique feature of the show is that it has questions about film personalities asked by themselves. Questions like for which film did John Abraham read the Quran as preparation or the title track of which Farah Khan film was written and composed by a first-timer.

“The show brought me face to face with so many other film buffs of my kind who live and breathe cinema,” said Dutta, whose forthcoming films include My Friend Pinto, Dev Anand’s Chargesheet “in which I have a very interesting part opposite Naseeruddin Shah and Zilla Ghaziabad and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, besides three Hollywood projects including Heartland, which is ready for release.

“My career graph has been unlike the typical diva’s in that I have done a handful but substantial parts which are remembered. I have no regrets about the fate of Monica which was produced and largely shot in Lucknow. I would love to do any other similar project that comes my way,” she said.

She is moved by the news of ace fashion photographer passing away this morning.

“My first portfolio was shot by him. I remember the mess I was looking like when I reached for the shoot and how he transformed me to look like a million dollars in the kind of pictures only he could take,” said the actress who might include this experience in the autobiographical novel she is busy penning and is likely to be out by next

year.
