DHFL ‘scam’ in Uttar Pradesh: Two arrested

An FIR has been registered in connection with UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) investing employees’ funds, worth Rs 2,600 crore, in DHFL over a span of two years.

Two persons were arrested Saturday after an FIR was registered in connection with UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) investing employees’ funds, worth Rs 2,600 crore in DHFL over a span of two years.

The FIR was registered against one P K Gupta and Sudhanshu Trivedi under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), and 471 (using as genuine a forged) of the IPC at Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station.

According to police sources, while Gupta, who was the secretary of the trust when the investments reportedly started, was arrested from Agra, Trivedi was held from Lucknow.
