A Dalit woman admitted in a nursing home was allegedly raped by its owner, also a senior doctor,in Kotwali area of Mau district on Sunday. Dr O N Verma had allegedly injected sedatives to the victim on the pretext of treating her before committing the crime.
The victim,a resident of Azamgarh, lodged the FIR on Monday night saying since she was under the influence of sedatives, she could not inform the police immediately.
Following her complaint, the police raided the nursing home and the residence of the accused doctor, but he could not be traced. Mau ASP Diwakar Kumar said the slide sample to corroborate the rape was collected on Tuesday and sent for the forensic test to Azamgarh. The report will be received by Wednesday evening.
Diwakar Kumar said the 26-year-old woman, who was married four years ago and does not have a child, had been undergoing treatment under Vermas gynaecologist wife since June. The victim had visited the nursing home on Friday, but the lady doctor was away.
Dr Verma, however, asked the victim to get immediately admitted in the nursing home as a medical procedure to treat some problem in her uterus was required immediately. She called up her husband and the mother in Azamgarh and got admitted the same day.
The victim alleged that around 2.30 pm on Sunday,a nurse took her from the ward to the operation theatre where Dr Verma administered her a sedative injection. She was taken out of the theatre in the evening and her husband was asked to take her back home even though she was in semi-conscious state.
She told the police that she came to know about the rape only after she regained consciousness on Monday morning.
The ASP said the wife of the accused was away when the alleged rape took place. The doctor couple has MD degree.
