Couple commits suicide in Lucknow

A Couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling of their house in Lucknows Sarojini Nagar on Friday afternoon.

A Couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling of their house in Lucknows Sarojini Nagar on Friday afternoon. No suicide note was recovered,said a police officer.

The deceased are Dharmendra Kalani (38) and his wife Diksha (33). Their four-year-old son Saurabh was in school when the couple reportedly killed themselves. Dharmendras father Chandra Kalani and his two brothers,both married,lived in different rented houses in the same area. They,however,told police that they did not know why the couple committed suicide.

Dharmendra had a business of electrical goods. On Friday morning,he did not go to the shop. His father,who runs a similar business in an adjacent shop,called him up,but got no response. Chandra then came home and went to the area where the couple lived and found that it was locked and there was no response from inside.

He then called his elder son,Sanjay,who broke open the door and found the couple hanging. The family then informed the police. Daya Ram,in-charge of Sarojini Nagar police station,said the family did not know why the couple committed suicide. But the neighbours,however,told the police that Dharmendras business was not doing well.
