Bhedjeet hailed from Mathura and was posted at the same outpost in Jalaun.
A POLICE constable was attacked and killed by unidentified assailants near a highway police outpost in Jalaun in the early hours of Wednesday, officers said. They identified the victim as Bhedjeet Singh (36). A search was on for two suspects, who allegedly assaulted Bhedjeet several times with a sharp-edged weapon, police said.
Bhedjeet hailed from Mathura and was posted at the same outpost in Jalaun.
During preliminary inquiry, the police found that Singh was on patrol duty at the time of the incident. Local residents told the police that they saw him chasing the two youths on Tuesday night.
The police suspect that an argument ensued after he caught one of them. In an attempt to free his aide, the other person may have attacked Bhedjeet and the two fled soon after.
