Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday described the decision of the Congress-led UPA government to hike the petrol prices as anti-people,saying her party has decided to hold a day-long dharna at all 72 district headquarters across the state on May 31.
She demanded the Centre immediately withdraw its the price hike.
A press release issued by the BSP said the Congress had become insensitive to the problems of common people. Mayawati said inflation and the Congress had become synonyms. She pointed out that the announcement to hike prices came soon after the Assembly election results.
Media reports indicated that the Centre was likely to increase the prices of diesel,kerosene and cooking gas,she added.
