Following reports that that supporters of Mohd Tahir Khan,Sultanpur MP and also BSP’s candidate from the seat, took out a procession and flaunted fire-arms on Wednesday, the Congress has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission regarding violation of the model code of conduct.

In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami, party spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh urged action against Khan and also the officials who were mute spectators.

“Action should be taken against both Tahir and local administration and cases should immediately be registered against them. Despite being the Member of Parliament,he has violated the code of conduct, which is shameful. Action against him is desirable to ensure that such an act is not repeated and the elections are conducted smoothly,” said Singh.
