One month after the formation of his government,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written to all his ministers asking them to take steps to build image of the new government and discourage those who are trying to malign its image. In his letter, the chief minister wrote that it is the collective responsibility of everyone in the party to ensure discipline among workers.

He also emphasised that the “change of power in the state should be felt by the public”,and this can be be done by “changing the atmosphere created by the previous government.”

“The CM has told his colleagues in the ministry that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to keep party workers disciplined and,if required, they should be convinced and made to realise that they should not do anything that would bring a negative impact on the image of the government,” said an official statement on Sunday.

Akhilesh has further told the ministers that some “anti-social elements are trying to malign the image of the government but they should not be allowed to succeed.”

In the past one month, there have been several incidents where SP workers and leaders have created embarrassment for the government. There were reports of violence by SP men, firings in the air,a party MLA riding on a horseback on a railway station, another parking his vehicle in a no-parking area in Lucknow’s Hazratganj in a manner which blocked traffic.

Akhilesh told the ministers about expectations of the public with which they had brought SP to power with an absolute majority. He asked the ministers to ensure that the administrative machinery was active,corruption-free,sensitive and accountable,so that people can feel the change down to the grassroots level.
