CM takes a dig at Modi over Amul

Amul, the milk giant from Gujarat, has been given 30 acres of land for setting up a milk processing and production unit in Karkhiyaon industrial area in Varanasi.

In a veiled attack on BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Saturday claimed that Amul dairy network has been developed over several years and no particular government can take credit for it.

The CM was addressing industrialists at his official residence Saturday while signing MoUs and giving allotment letters to various industrial groups for setting up their projects in the state.

Amul, the milk giant from Gujarat, has been given 30 acres of land for setting up a milk processing and production unit in Karkhiyaon industrial area in Varanasi.

“Amul has not been developed overnight. Any particular government has not made it and if some people think it is their effort they are wrong,” Akhilesh said.

“Amul knows well that UP leads the country in livestock and milk production. A leader of a national party targeted us after we got lions from his state. He should know where states stand in terms of milk production; Amul is aware of UP’s place in milk production,” he added.

Earlier,Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, during his rally at Bahraich on November 8,had said: “It would have been better had he (Akhilesh) asked for Gir cows which could have given livelihood to farmers. Or,he could have asked for electricity from Gujarat for UP villages. He could also have asked about the network of Amul dairy to help dairy farmers here.”

Earlier,Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Alok Ranjan informed that the state government is planning to introduce an industrial service law which will fix accountability of officials for time bound clearances.

Akhilesh Yadav blamed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the delay in giving consent to the Lucknow Metro Rail project. “Some people act in a political manner. One organisation thinks if they don’t assist, nothing will be done. We have decided to go ahead with the metro project, come what may,” he said.

Akhilesh admitted that as sweeteners — in the form of huge land banks — were given by the BSP previous government for projects,no private bidder is coming forward for his Agra-Lucknow Expressway. “We cannot offer so many sweeteners,so we have decided to build it ourselves,” he said.
