CM demands more Central schools for state

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written to Union Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju giving details of land allotted by the UP government for central schools in the past and demanding sanction of more such schools in the future.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written to Union Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju giving details of land allotted by the UP government for central schools in the past and demanding sanction of more such schools in the future.

The letter comes a week after Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Jitin Prasada blamed the state government for not providing land for establishing central schools here after laying foundation stone for one in Rae Bareli.

In his letter,Akhilesh said that out of 10 central schools sanctioned for the state, seven have already been allotted land by the state government. The latest allotment is of 5 acre land in Pilibhit district, which was done on May 13.

Besides, about 5.97 acre land in Etawah had been allotted for construction of a central school on March 16. In Mahoba district,8.09 acres of land was transferred on August 8,2012; in Chitrakoot area of Bundelkhand,4 acres of land was allotted on November 6 last year; in Lalitpur,8.3 acre land was transferred on May 9,2011.

The Chief Minister said only three sanctioned central schools are yet to get land. These are in Allahabad,Etah and Hathras. While land clearance for Allahabad and Etah are pending with central government agencies,Hathras would soon be allotted land by the local Nagarpalika. He said that considering the size of the state, more such schools should be sanctioned for UP.

Under rules, after a central school is sanctioned for an area by Union HRD Ministry, the Centre sends the proposal to state government for land on lease. Till the time the state government provides land, the school runs in a temporary set-up at a rented place. After the process of land allotment is completed, the construction work is undertaken by the central government.
