Challenged boy dies of electrocution in school

He suffered the electric shock from the wire of submersible pump fitted at Aksham Rajkiya Ashram Paddhati Awasiya Vidyalaya

An 11-year-old physically challenged student Monday died after he suffered an electric shock at a boarding school for the handicapped in Para area of Lucknow Sunday.

Police said Shaymji,a student of Class VI and a resident of Hardoi,suffered the electric shock from the wire of submersible pump fitted at Aksham Rajkiya Ashram Paddhati Awasiya Vidyalaya,run by the UP government.

Para station officer Ram Vilas Yadav said Shyamji had come out of the hostel around 10 pm to fetch water from the hand pump. He said a live current ran through the hand pump and Shyamji suffered injuries. He was rushed to King George Medical University trauma centre where he died during treatment.

The boys father Nandlal has lodged a complaint alleging negligence by school authorities. Yadav said they have received the complaint and are waiting for the postmortem report to take further action.
