‘CBI should probe irregularities in JNNURM’

Alleging large scale irregularities into the implementation of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in UP,the Congress party on Friday demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should look into the matter. “Due to scam in implementation of JNNURM in the state,the roads are caving in every district. A CBI probe should be conducted into it so that those guilty should be brought to book,” senior Congress leader and Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said. “The works,which should have been completed within three-four months are still incomplete due to prevailing commission system. This is proof of the scam and state government should recommend a CBI probe into it,” he said.

On CMO murders,Jaiswal said that ministers were involved in discrepancies in their department and Mayawati should explain why resignations were taken from family welfare minister Babu Singh Khushwaha and health minister Anant Kumar Mishra.

Defending the Lokpal Bill,Jaiswal said that it was balanced and his party was determined to fulfil promises of its manifesto.
