After the resignation of the powerful Cabinet Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha on Thursday evening,a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA from Deoria district was questioned in Lucknow by Special Task Force officials in connection with CMO Dr B P Singhs murder case on Friday.
Details with the STF showed that Dr BP Singh had been in regular contact with the MLA after he took over the charge of CMO (Family Welfare). The sources confirmed that the STF has collected some important details from the MLA regarding allotment of contracts under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scheme.
An STF official said the MLA was quizzed at his house for over two hours and had been asked to stay there.
Lucknow police on Thursday night arrested the proprietors of two private firms and a clerk of the Family Welfare Department in connection with the case registered at Wazirganj police station regarding embezzlement and misuse of government funds.
An FIR was lodged against the ousted Lucknow CMO (Health),Dr AK Shukla,Deputy CMO (Family Welfare) Dr YS Sachan and others.
Wazirganj SHO Pankaj Singh said those arrested on Thursday include Gauri Shanker Singh and Ravindra Bahadur Singh,the proprietors of Om Raj Enterprises and Omega Security Services,respectively,and a contractual clerk in Family Welfare Dinesh Singh.
Gauri Shanker had a contract of providing ambulances,and Ravindra Bahadur used to provide security guards and Class IV staff on contract basis. The clerk,Dinesh Singh is accused of not scrutinising bills submitted by the two firms and recommending them for payment.
On the other hand,Deputy CMO Dr YS Sachan who was taken on police custody remand today for two days,got admitted to the Balrampur Hospital after he complained of chest pain late in the noon.
Sachan and Dr AK Shukla were confronted and were being interrogated together when Sachan suddenly sought the medical help.
