A BSP leader was allegedly shot dead following a petty dispute over distribution of fertiliser. Block head of Kabrai,Balendra Mishra was shot on Thursday in village Bhandara by around six persons including one Ashok and Vikram Yadav after they entered into heated debate on distribution of fertilisers to farmers. Mishra received seven to eight gun shots and died on the spot,police said.

SP workers resign
Lakhimpur: After the resignation of two senior leaders,over half a dozen other senior party workers quit from the Samajwadi Party on Thursday. They include District Panchayat chairperson Anita Giri,three block heads and seven members of the district panchayat,said party sources. Giri is close relative of SP legislator Arvind Giri. On November 25,former UP minister Banshi Dhar Raj and sitting party MLC Dhirendra Bahadur Singh had quit.

Five arrested
LUCKNOW: The Agra police arrested five persons on Friday who were allegedly involved in preparing fake driving licence and no-objection certificates. They have been identified as Yudhistar Raj Panjubi,Sunil,Manoj and Parvesh. Six

mobile phones,Rs 1.18 lakh in cash,fake documents and stamps of several senior officials were recovered.

Two commit suicide
LUCKNOW: In two separate incidents,a man and a woman committed suicide in Lucknow on Friday. The first incident was reported from Ghazipur where Rajesh (35) was found hanging from a tree. The police said he was suffering from depression due to a prolonged illness. Rajesh was a washerman. Meena Rajput (23) allegedly hanged herself in her Madioan home. Meena was the wife of Raj Kumar,who worked in an orchestra party. They had married in February 2008.
