The Lucknow district administration on Friday got an FIR registered against the director of Central Drug Research Institute for not complying with the orders of the Lucknow DM. Dr Tushar Kant Chakravarty was booked under Census Act.

The Lucknow district administration on Friday got an FIR registered against the director of Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) for not complying with the orders of the Lucknow DM. Dr Tushar Kant Chakravarty was booked under Census Act. The DM had ordered that 50 staff of the CDRI be pressed into service for Census work. “On Thursday,when we learnt that the director didn’t implement the direction and returned the duty orders of its staff members,we registered the case against director”,said V P Singh,in-charge,Tehsil Bakshi Ka Talab.

Six girls drown in Rapti
Six girls drowned in Rapti river in Gaurichauraha area of Balrampur district on Friday. The divers fished out the bodies late this evening. The deceased are Archana (12),Preeti (11),Manisha (8),Sonari (10),Reshma (12) and Dharma (10) — all residents of Bilaspur village,said local Station Officer Jagdish Prasad Verma. The girls drowned while bathing in the river,the officer said.

Four die in Meerut cylinder blast
Meerut: Four members of a family died after an LPG cylinder exploded in their Gudri Bazar locality residence in Meerut district on Friday. Meerut SP (City) Prabal Pratap Singh said the incident took place at one Shaukat’s house.

No haphazard hoardings: Govt
The state government has ordered the removal of huge hoardings erected haphazardly on rooftops in the Hazratganj area. In a meeting held on Friday,Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta said the hoardings should be replaced with signboards of uniform shape and size. All buildings in the area will be coloured with a common colour.

Three decomposed bodies recovered
The decomposed bodies of one Satyavati (62),and her two children,Sandeep Mishra and Priyanka,were found from Hatipur in Lakhimpur Kheri on Friday evening. The bodies bore injury marks and have been sent for postmortem. Nothing was missing from the house,said police.

Two persons injured
Two elderly persons received pellet injuries when a licenced gun of a security guard of a bank accidentally went off in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area on Friday.
