Juvenile rape accused escapes from custody
A 15-year-old boy arrested for allegedly raping a minor,escaped from the Majhola police station of Moradabad city on Wednesday. Moradabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) B P Singh said the father of a 14-year-old girl from Sikanderpur had lodged an FIR against the boy. SP (City) Subhash Singh Baghel said the boy was not put behind bars and escaped between 3 am and 6 am. Cases have been registered against the boy — who was arrested on Tuesday — and also against Sandip,the sentry at the police station,for dereliction of duty.

Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day visit to his constituency on January 28 and 29.

4 drug peddlers arrested
The state ATS claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Badhni area of Siddhartha Nagar district on Wednesday and recovered 2 kg of heroine from their possession. ADG (Law & Order) Brij Lal said that the heroine worth Rs 2 crore was smuggled from Thailand and being brought through Nepal.

Constable commits suicide
A constable on sentry duty at the residence of Devipatan Range DIG committed suicide by consuming insecticide in Gonda district on Wednesday. Gonda SP N R Padmaja said that constable Satyapal Yadav (24) was upset as his infant son died 10 days ago.
