UPPGMEE: Candidate caught with fake SC certificate
A candidate of the Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (UPPGMEE) was handed over to police after his caste certificate was found to be fake during counselling. A resident of Devariya,Pranav Kumar appeared for counseling in the SC category on the second day of UPPGMEE counseling.
Woman burns self,daughter to death
Following an altercation with her husband,a woman set herself and her minor daughter on fire in the Chauri area of Sant Ravidas Nagar district on Saturday. The mother-daughter duo died on the spot. Chauri Station Officer (SO) Jayant Yadav said Sanju (26) and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Khushboo sustained over 90 per cent burns. The family rushed the mother-daughter duo to a private nursing home at Bhadohi,where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
57-yr-old man dies in road accident
A 57-year-old man died after being hit by a truck in Lucknows Hazratganj area on Saturday evening. Paras Nath Srivastava,a resident of Aliganj,was headed towards the Lal Batti crossing when the incident took place. Srivastava was taken to hospital,where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
IAS officer transferred
The state government on Saturday transferred IAS officer Balwant Singh Chauhan from the post of UP Ganna Sansthan director and made him Commissioner,Rural Housing.
