Allahabad HC gets two new judges ALLAHABAD: Two new judges were appointed in the Allahabad High Court Friday. Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra administered oath to judges Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Suneet Kumar as additional judges. The two will become permanent judges after two-year probation period. With the joining of the two new judges,the strength of the High Court judges,including the Lucknow bench,has gone up to 88 against the sanctioned strength of 160. Meanwhile,three additional judges were also administered oath as permanent judges after completing their two-year probation period. The additional judges are Justices Saeed-uz-zama Siddiqi,Het Singh Yadav and Anil Kumar Sharma. Four held for betting on CL T20 matches Ghaziabad: Four were arrested for allegedly betting on the ongoing Champions League T20 matches,police said. The arrests were made from Siyani Gate after a raid was conducted by a crime branch in a house last night. Police recovered some cash,a laptop,mobile phones,calculators,a television set and betting related materials. The arrested have been identified as Mukesh Gupta,Vinod Batra,Gaurav Gupta and Anupam Gulathi. Four sentenced to life in murder case Badaun: Three members of a family were among four were Friday sentenced to life in a murder and attempt to murder case. Veerpal Singh was shot by Saudab Singh,his sons Gyan Singh,Bhuwanesh and another man Surajpal over a land dispute in Bisauli in July 2007,prosecution sources said. Veerpals brother Kalicharan and nephew Arun were injured in the firing,they said. State sets July 2014 deadline for Food Bill implementation LUCKNOW: THE UP government has decided to form a steering committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani and a special cell in the office of Commissioner Food and Civil Supplies for fast implementation of the Food security Bill 2013 in the state. The orders were issued after a meeting called by Usmani on Friday in Lucknow. This was the first meeting in the state for implementation of provisions of the bill after it was passed in Lok Sabha in August this year and then in Rajya Sabha early this month. Usmani has set a deadline of July 2014 for implementation of the bill in the state and asked officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department as well as Finance Department to prepare a workplan. According to estimates of Food and Civil Supplies Department,around 15 crore people would be beneficiaries of the scheme in the state. The department has been asked to computerise its records and issue fresh ration cards to these 15 crore beneficiaries. Sources,however,said it would be difficult for the department to implement the bills provisions with its existing structure and staff strength. The department is already facing shortage of staff,right from supply inspectors to food officers at the district level, said an officer
