After receiving a poor response, the UP Housing and Urban Planning Department has extended the deadline by one month for submitting the bids for six of the 10 urban infrastructure projects.

After receiving a poor response, the UP Housing and Urban Planning Department has extended the deadline by one month for submitting the bids for six of the 10 urban infrastructure projects.

Earlier the bids for the six projects, under the Integrated Urban Rejuvenation Plan, were supposed to be submitted by today.

The technical bids for four infrastructure projects of multi-level car parking were, however, opened today, said Harminder Raj Singh,Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Planning Department. The financial bids of the same will be opened on August 6,he added. Rejecting poor response as the cause behind the extension,Singh said: “The last date of the bid submission for these projects has been extended on the request of the bidders.”

Among these four projects, three multi-level car parks are to be developed in Ghaziabad and one in Allahabad. The estimated cost of these four projects is said to be Rs 184 crore. The officials, however, denied to reveal the number of bids received as yet. The six projects for which the deadline has been extended are super-speciality hospitals in Lucknow and Kanpur,a multi-speciality hospital in Agra and two underground parking lots and Transport Nagar in Varanasi.  Due to poor response, the government had already put on hold four other projects, including an inner ring road in Agra,an auditorium in Ghaziabad,a cricket stadium-cum-sports complex and an international convention centre in Lucknow.
