Four out of eight enter Round-II
Four major players in infrastructure development and sports management have qualified for the second round of bidding for the proposed international-level cricket stadium-cum-sports complex in Lucknow. In the next stage,one of these firms will be selected to develop the sport complex.
The firms Madhucon,DSC Limited,Gammon India and JP Sports were selected after a high-level committee under Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) evaluated the requests for qualification (technical and financial profile of company) received from eights bidders.
The draft of the concession agreement will be sent to the four firms within a week. Following this,a pre-bid meeting will be organised to answer their queries. The firms will submit their request for proposals (RFP) after that, said Lucknow Development Authority Vice-Chairman Mritunjay Kumar Narain.
The project with an estimated cost of about Rs 400 crore is proposed to come up on 117 acre on Sultanpur Road under public-private partnership model.
Delhi-based Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Private Limited has been appointed the technical advisor for the project.
According to sources,the pre-bid meeting is likely to held in the first week of January and the firms will be given three weeks to submit their RFPs. A committee under the IIDC will evaluate the RFPs and select the developer by end of February. The letter of intent will be issued to the selected company within 30 days and the concession agreement signed within a month after the letter has been issued, said an official.
The complex to be developed according to the guidelines of the International Cricket Council will have world-class facilities to conduct international events. It will have a cricket stadium with a seating capacity for at least 50,000 people and floodlights to hold matches at night.
In addition,there will be a hockey and a football ground with a seating capacity for at least 30,000 people and 25,000 people respectively. Facilities for indoor games like basketball,gymnastics,lawn tennis and aquatics will also be developed.
