Alleging ‘deviation’ by Team Anna,IAC activists form separate body

A section of India Against Corruption members in Lucknow has dissociated itself from the organisation, objecting to the style of functioning of Team Anna.

A section of India Against Corruption (IAC) members in Lucknow has dissociated itself from the organisation, objecting to the style of functioning of Team Anna. But they have decided to continue working for Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign.

Alleging that team Anna had hijacked Anna Hazare’s campaign, they formed a separate organisation, the ‘Anna Samarthak Manch’,which distributed pamphlets at the IAC’s public meeting at Jhulelal Park in Lucknow on Tuesday.

These workers alleged that team Anna had deviated from the main cause of the agitation and were working for their own interests.

Arvind Kejriwal,Manish Sisodia,Kumar Vishwas and Sanjay Singh were present at the public meeting when these pamphlets were distributed. IAC core committee member Sanjay Singh said these were “some local problems that would be sorted out very soon”. “But if any person does not want to work with us,we cannot do anything.”

Rakesh Goyal,a former bank employee who had been associated with IAC since March this year and has joined the new organisation, said team Anna demands interaction of the public with ministers,MPs,MLA and bureaucrats but they themselves avoid meeting IAC workers.

“I have called Kejriwal more than 50 times to give some suggestions but he never responded. Same is the case with other members. They delete when someone posts objections on the Facebook account of IAC,” Goyal said. He said Anna Hazare wants transparency in the system, his own team is not maintaining it in the organisation. “They are not declaring the income and expenditure they made in Lucknow and other parts of the state during various programmes since February,’’ Goyal said.

JK Singh,a retired government employee who sat on a fast for 13 days in Lucknow in August when Anna Hazare went on an indefinite fast in New Delhi, alleged that the team had deviated from the main agenda and its members were acting like politicians.

“More than Rs 1 lakh was collected in Lucknow since February but the persons who received the amount are refusing to give details of the expenditure,” he alleged.

Col (retired) M C Papne, another member of Anna Samarthak Manch, said Tuesday’s programme was meant to be an interaction between members of team Anna and the youth “but no youth from the public was allowed to talk and team Anna delivered speeches from the stage.”

Papne said the IAC must declare their source of income and the money they spent on Tuesday’s programme.
